UCI ART SCHOOL was recently noted by Laguna Art Museum as “ a hotbed of creativity and experimentation in the 1960s and early ’70s, a hub of innovation with exceptional teachers such as Tony DeLap, Robert Irwin, and Vija Celmins and students like Alexis Smith, Chris Burden, and Nancy Buchanan. I studied painting with Ed Moses and Billy Al Bengston and sculpture with
Bruce Nauman
Prior to UCI I studied Art and Philosophy at NORTHERN ARIZONA UNIVERSITY and attended the SCHOOL OF FINE ART CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH.
I think of my recent work as Classical paintings even though, when fully realized, they encompass smart phone technology, video documentation and performance.
• They are obsessively intentional and reductionist.
• They are self-indulgent and seductive.
• They use technology to integrate the process, subject, collaborators and artist.
